Do I Need a Mental Health Plan to See a Counsellor or Psychotherapist?

In Short, the Answer is no. Here's Why....

A Mental Health Plan is a plan for people with a mental health disorder. If you have mental health issues, your doctor can write out this plan. It identifies what type of health care you need, and spells out what you and your doctor have agreed you are aiming to achieve.

Counsellors and Psychotherapists don't need but can accept a Mental Health Plan because we do not focus on a diagnosis or a specific therapy. Our aim is to provide a range of therapies to suit an individual client and is treated holistically. We can use a Mental Health Plan to guide the therapy session as requested by a GP.

A Mental Health Plan allows a client to receive a Medicare rebate when seeing a Psychologist up to 10-12 sessions per year. After your 10-12 sessions fees can be expensive. Our rates as Counsellors are generally in line with the out of pocket expenses that you would incur by seeing a Psychologist. We do not limit the amount of sessions you receive and our waitlist is usually not as long.

Counsellors are trained in a variety of contemporary therapies to facilitate the the best outcome for our clients.

No two people are the same. That’s why the approach that we take in our services is highly-personalised and refined to fit the exact needs of our clients. We will help you recognise your underlying problems, fully realise your strengths and help you adjust to a new, healthier lifestyle. Book a session today!
